Community events, such as fairs, rodeos and farmers markets, enhance community pride, teach people new things, and strengthen relationships. Tobacco/Nicotine-Free environments provided added benefits for these events by protecting the environment and community members.

  • Secondhand smoke is harmful both outdoors and indoors and there is no safe level of secondhand smoke exposure.
  • Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world and are not biodegradable13, causing  additional maintenance costs and harm to the environment.
  • Tobacco/Nicotine-Free events allow for positive role modeling and reduce the social norm of tobacco use.
